Physical Education

Why we teach PE

PE helps children lead healthy, active lives. It develops confidence, coordination, teamwork and resilience. Physical activity boosts wellbeing and helps children learn the importance of looking after their bodies.

How we teach PE

Children take part in a variety of sports and physical activities such as games, gymnastics, dance and athletics. Skills are taught gradually, and children are encouraged to develop personal bests, work as part of a team and enjoy friendly competition. We emphasise fairness, respect and enjoyment.

What we want children to learn

Children build fitness, coordination and sporting skills. They learn teamwork, perseverance and the value of an active lifestyle.

At St James, we believe that Physical Education is a vital part of every child’s development. We are proud to partner with Premier Education to deliver high-quality P.E. lessons and enrichment opportunities that inspire and engage our pupils.

Through structured, expert-led activities, our children are encouraged to stay active, build confidence, and develop essential life skills that support their physical and emotional well-being. Premier Education’s tailored approach empowers our curriculum, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive through movement, teamwork, and personal growth.

Whether it's through curriculum lessons, after-school clubs, or enrichment days, our commitment to physical education helps foster a lifelong love of health and fitness.
