Friday 22nd January

Recapping spelling rules:

- The /n/ sound spelt ‘kn’ and (less often) ‘gn’ at the beginning of words
- The sound /dʒ/ spelt ‘-ge’ and ‘-dge’ at the end of words, and sometimes spelt as ‘g’ elsewhere in words before ‘e’, ‘i’ and ‘y’.
- The /s/ sound spelt ‘c’ before ‘e’, ‘i’ and ‘y’

Word strings:
Can you think of any words ending in ‘dge’, ‘ge’, that start with ‘kn’ or ‘gn’ or that include a ‘c’ that makes a ‘s’ sound.

Write these words down (you might want to use different colours for each word) to create a word string across you page.

Remember for words ending in ‘dge’ and ‘ge’, you could try and think of words that rhyme.
