Can they draw this number using dienes blocks? (A single line for the tens and a dot for the ones)
Warm up:

- counting backwards from a chosen number between 0 and 100

Write down a couple of number sentences for them:
23 + 5 =
34 + 3 =
27 – 4 =
38 – 7 =
Remind the children that when they’re adding, we draw extra ones and when we’re taking away, we cross them out.
