At St James C of E Primary and Nursery School, staff use the Reach Curriculum to facilitate their teaching of this subject. LYFTA is also programme that we use to enhance learning as it brings current content into the classroom in a highly visual way to support children cultural capital and understanding of the wider world.
We value the opportunity to broaden children's understanding of the world around them; the world they belong to. We challenge stereotypes and understand the importance of deepening learning through the development of critical thinking skills, peer discussion and high quality reading stimuli. To begin each lesson, we complete retrieval activities in order to solve misconceptions that children have and commit learning to long-term memory. This is done by recapping and reviewing previous content.
