At St James C of E Primary and Nursery School, staff follow the Music Scheme, 'Voices' in order to facilitate and enhance their teaching of this subject.  Voices is a long standing, research based approach to learning about music and how to be a musician. Musical elements of timbre, pitch, tone, rhythm, dynamics and performance are taught through song whilst developing the voice as an instrument. Tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments are used to develop this learning further and enhance the curriculum. Pupils meet important composers and pieces of work, throughout history. Specialist Vocal coaches work with both staff and pupils to ensure the best quality music learning for all.
