Our Staff Team

We are delighted to introduce our skilled and experienced staff team.

Mrs Fox worked with the sponsor to develop the bid for the new school and is the Executive Head. 


With more than 12 years’ experience of being a Head Teacher in the primary sector in Devon, Mrs Fox successfully led Okehampton Primary School to outperform national averages in the percentage of pupils meeting the expected standards in reading writing and maths.

 

As Executive Head, Mrs Fox provides leadership to ensure that the school is effective and drives school improvement – the process by which the school can raise standards and improve pupil outcomes. Mrs Fox is also the Accounting Officer.

Mrs Stevens brings a wealth of experience to St James.

 

Her career to date has included roles as a Teacher, Subject Coordinator, Foundation Stage Leader, Deputy Head, Local Authority Adviser, Head of Early Years, Assistant Headteacher and Acting Head of School.

 

A qualified Headteacher, Mrs Stevens holds a B.Ed (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and is a Department for Education designated Specialist Leader in Education.  Mrs Stevens has also passed her NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship).

 

As Head of School, Mrs Stevens oversees the day to day management of the school and drives high standards of teaching and learning. 

 

Mrs MacDonald PhotoMrs MacDonald: Butterflies Class Teacher (Reception)

Mrs MacDonald joined St James in September 2018 and teaches Butterflies Class (Reception) full time, whilst also overseeing the Nursery provision within St James.  Mrs MacDonald is a Dartmoor Leader of Education (DLE) for Early Years, supporting local colleagues with their EYFS practice and provision.

Miss Kemish joined St James in September 2019 after starting her teaching career in Brighton and teaches Hedgehogs Class (Y1) full time.

Mrs Enderson joined St James in September 2018 and is our Level 6 HLTA who leads in Caterpillars, our Nursery, working closely with Mrs MacDonald.  Mrs Enderson has over 25 years experience of working with young children.

Miss Gilbert joined St James in September 2019 as a Schools Direct Trainee Teacher and she works alongside Miss Kemish in Hedgehogs Class (Y1).

 

 

Teaching Assistant photoMr Pennington: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Mr Pennington joined St James in September 2019 and works full time in Butterflies Class with Mrs MacDonald.  Mr Pennington joins us as an experienced HLTA after working for several years in another Devon School.

Miss Maxam joined St James in September 2019, working alongside Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars.

Miss Mac joined St James in September 2019, working alongside Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars.

 

 

Nursery staff photoMs Devine - Level 4 Foundation Stage Practitioner and Nursery Administrator

Ms Devine joined St James in September 2019 and takes responsibility for all areas of Nursery administration as well as working closely with Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars.

Ms Cowling joined St James in September 2018, from a school in Exeter and brings significant experience in school administration and a lovely cheery manner! She is the first point of contact for parents, welcoming the children every morning, supporting the staff team and ensuring we all work efficiently and effectively. 

 

Catering staff photoMs Callender - Catering Assistant

Ms Callender joined St James in September 2019 as our Catering Assistant.  She serves up the children's dinners everyday with a big smile!

 

 

MTA photoMs Stacey - Meal Time Assistant (MTA)

Miss Stacey joined St James in September 2019 and supports the children in Butterflies and Hedgehogs Class whilst they are eating their lunches.
