Executive Primary Principal : Mrs Stevens BEd (Hons), NPQH
Mrs Stevens brings a wealth of experience to St James.
Her career to date has included roles as a Teacher, Subject Coordinator, Foundation Stage Leader, Deputy Head, Local Authority Adviser, Head of Early Years, Assistant Headteacher and Acting Head of School.
A qualified Headteacher, Mrs Stevens holds a B.Ed (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and is a Department for Education designated Specialist Leader in Education. Mrs Stevens has also passed her NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship).
As Executive Primary Principal, Mrs Stevens provides strategic leadership to ensure that the school is effective and drives school improvement - the process by which the school can raise standards and improve pupil outcomes.
Mrs Carter : Associate Principal
Following an extensive career in the North of England, Mrs Carter joined St James in September 2021, bringing a wealth of experience to our team. A qualified teacher, Mrs Carter has taught for many years and has a passion for the creative arts.
Mrs Carter is responsible for the day to day running of St James.
Mrs Goodwin : Assistant Principal and Foxes class teacher (Y2) - 0.6
Mrs Goodwin joined St James in April 2021 for 3 days a week to provide additional leadership experience and became a full time member of the team in September 2021. A qualified teacher, Mrs Goodwin has taught for over 20 years and has been an Assistant Headteacher in another local school for 4 years. Mrs Goodwin is passionate about mathematics, science and outdoor learning, as well as ensuring that all children meet their full potential.
Miss Dart : Hedgehogs Class Teacher (Year 1) and SENDCo.
Miss Dart joined St James in September 2020 and teaches in Hedgehogs Class (Y1) full time. Miss Dart joins St James from a school in Exeter and comes to us with a wealth of experience, having been a teacher, a Subject leader, a SENDCo and an Acting Headteacher in her past roles. Miss Dart leads on SEND across St James.
Miss Tooms : Woodpeckers Class Teacher (Year 3)
Miss Tooms joined St James in September 2020 and teaches in Woodpeckers Class (Y3) full time. Miss Tooms joins St James from a school in Bristol and is excited to relocate to Devon and become part of the St James family.
Mr Paine : EYFS Lead and Butterflies Class Teacher (Reception)
Mr Paine joined St James in September 2021 as our EYFS leader, following several years of teaching in one of our other DMAT schools. Mr Paine has a passion for learning and as a Sports specialist, leads on PE and Sports across the school.
Mrs MacDonald: Foxes Class Teacher (Y2) 0.4 and Butterflies class teacher (Reception) 0.2
Mrs MacDonald joined St James in September 2018 and teaches Foxes class (Y2) on a Wednesday and Thursday each week, and then teaches Butterflies Class (Reception) on a Friday each week. Mrs MacDonald is a Dartmoor Leader of Education (DLE) for Early Years, supporting local colleagues with their EYFS practice and provision.
Mrs Enderson: Foundation Stage Supervisor - Caterpillars (Nursery)
Mrs Enderson joined St James in September 2018 and is our Level 6 HLTA who leads in Caterpillars, our Nursery, working closely with our Reception class teachers. Mrs Enderson has over 25 years experience of working with young children.
Miss Hazell: Teaching Assistant
Miss Hazell joined St James in January 2021 and works full time in Butterflies Class with Mr Paine and Mrs MacDonald. Miss Hazell joins us as an experienced Teaching Assistant after working for several years in another Devon School.
Miss James : Teaching Assistant
Miss James joined St James in September 2020 and works full time in Hedgehogs Class with Miss Dart. Miss James joins us as an experienced Teaching Assistant after working for several years in another Devon School.
Mrs Lethbridge : Teaching Assistant
Mrs Lethbridge joined St James in September 2020 and works full time in Foxes, our Y2 class. Mrs Lethbridge joins us as an experienced Teaching Assistant after working for several years at other Devon Schools.
Mrs Redding : Teaching Assistant
Mrs Redding joined St James in March 2021 and works full time in Butterflies, our Reception class. Mrs Redding joins us with a degree in Primary education and a range of experience leading extended school provision.
Miss Simmons : Level 3 Foundation Stage Practitioner
Miss Simmons joined St James in March 2021 and works full time in our Nursery with Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars. Miss Simmons joins us from another Devon Primary School and has spent many years as an outstanding local Childminder.
Mrs Norgate : Level 3 Foundation Stage Practitioner
Mrs Norgate joined St James in April 2021 and works full time in our Nursery with Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars. Mrs Norgate joins us from a Private Nursery in Exeter and has experience of leading the 2 - 3 year old provision.
Miss Mac - Level 2 Foundation Stage Worker
Miss Mac joined St James in September 2019, working alongside Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars.
Ms Devine - Level 4 Foundation Stage Practitioner and Nursery Administrator
Ms Devine joined St James in September 2019 and takes responsibility for all areas of Nursery administration, as well as working closely with Mrs Enderson and the rest of the team in Caterpillars. Ms Devine works part time in Hedgehogs, our Y1 class each morning.
Mrs Bolton - Senior Finance and Administrator
Mrs Bolton joined St James in July 2021 as Senior Administrator and has a wealth of experience in both finance and office administration. She leads the admin team within St James and also works for DMAT Central Team, providing support with Trust finances.
Mrs Pengelly - Admin Apprentice
Mrs Pengelly joined St James in September 2021 as our Admin Apprentice and she is the main person who will greet you with a huge smile when you come into our front office.
Mrs Doidge - Chef Manager
Mrs Doidge joined St James in September 2021 as our brand new Chef Manager, working alongside DMAT's Executive Chef and our team, to create delicious and nutritious lunchtime experiences for all of our children.
Mrs Marshall - Kitchen Assistant
Mrs Marshall joined St James in March 2021 as our Kitchen Assistant. She helps prepare and serve up the children's dinners everyday with a big smile!
Ms Stacey - Kitchen Assistant
Miss Stacey joined St James in September 2019 as an MTA and became a Kitchen Assistant in September 2021. She helps prepare and serve up the children's dinners everyday with a big smile!
Mrs Rickwood - Meal Time Assistant (MTA)
Mrs Rickwood joined St James in September 2021 from another local Devon school and supports the children across the school whilst they are eating their lunches.
Ms Reddaway - Meal Time Assistant (MTA)
Ms Reddaway joined St James in September 2021 and supports the children across the school whilst they are eating their lunches.
Miss Wilmott - Meal Time Assistant (MTA)
Miss Wilmott joined St James in January 2022 and supports the children across the school whilst they are eating their lunches.
Mrs Hensberg - Meal Time Assistant (MTA)
Mrs Hensberg joined St James in January 2022 and supports the children across the school whilst they are eating their lunches.
Mrs Button - Parent Support Adviser
